Peterhead Football Club are delighted to advise that, due to the fantastic fundraising efforts over the summer by the board, players and management of the club as well as fans near and far , funds are now in place for Gary Fraser’s operation to proceed.
Gary who has been out of action since last December was recently assessed by a Consultant and surgery to correct two issues in his knee has been called for with the funding for the operation and his rehabilitation coming from the funds that were raised from an on-line auction (which included manager Jim McInally’s Dundee United jersey from the 1987 UEFA Cup Final for auction and player/ coach Simon Ferry prized Swindon Town promotion jersey as well as Kevin Nisbet’s goalscoring Scotland top), a sponsored mountain climb by the Blue Toon players and a host of donations.
A total of £21,000 is being distributed between the club and Mental Health Charity, Back Onside, who also provided auction items and who have former Peterhead player David Cox as a patron.
Thank you to everyone who helped Gary out (including West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan who made a handsome donation after reading about Gary’s situation).
