Peterhead v Stenhousemuir

January 9, 2021

Balmoor Stadium 3.00pm kick off (subject to a pitch inspection)

Peterhead welcome Stenhousemuir to Balmoor with Blue Toon boss Jim McInally wary of the Warriors as he explained: “They have a forward line that would not be out of place in League 1 let alone League 2. It was just a couple of years ago they held Aberdeen to a draw at Pittodrie in this competition so we are in for a tough afternoon.”

“We are at home and that probably makes us the favourites however Stenhousemuir have experience right through their team and have players that can score goals. We are again going to be recast due to injuries and suspension and whilst that does not always help we are used to it by now.”

“Jason Brown is in plaster after breaking a bone in his hand and Gary MacKenzie is not quite fit enough but thankfully with Kyle Bailey back we have options. Up front we have three players back as well as having Steven Boyd free to play before serving a suspension next weekend and Niah Payne could be involved if clearance comes through in time.”

“We have done all that we can do and hopefully the staff at Hampden will have it sorted.”

Jim added: “Winning in the Scottish Cup at this stage is usually about trying to secure a glamour tie against a Premiership side however this year there is more at stake. Getting through generates more income to the club and with no fans being allowed into games yet then that is huge.”

Better news is the return of Kyle Bailey, Isaac Layne, Derek Lyle and Ben Armour with new signing Niah Payne in line for a debut if international clearance comes through in time.
