Big night ahead for the Blue Toon

Nov 10, 2020

Peterhead manager Jim McInally will experience the joy of visiting a ground where his near 40-year career has never taken him before when the Blue Toon visits Kelty Hearts.

The Balmoor side are hoping to sit ahead of St Johnstone and Dundee United in Group C by the final whistle with former Dundee United and Scotland midfielder McInally saying: “I have been to a lot of grounds however this will be my first taste of New Central Park. It is a shame that Kelty’s fans will not be there as I have been told that they add a lot of atmosphere however if their absence increases our chances of winning, I will take it.”

“If we can win and the two Premiership teams draw, we would be topping our group before the final round of fixtures. That as a huge incentive but Kelty are the favourites as they have such a strong squad and pushed both St Johnstone and Dundee United hard.”

“They have four former Peterhead players in their ranks in Jamie Stevenson, Scott Hooper, Paddy Boyle and Craig Reid and that adds another edge.”

Simon Ferry and Steven Boyd could return after hamstring injuries however Gary Mackenzie remains out as does Issac Layne. Jason Brown is available as his suspension for being dismissed against Montrose will be served when League 1 resumes.
