Blue Toon head back to Dundee

Peterhead complete their pre-season work on the pitch this afternoon when they visit Dundee for the second time this week however their destination this time is Dundee North End’s North End pitch as opposed to Dundee’s Dens Park.

The Blue Toon went down 4-0 to the Championship Dark Blues on Tuesday night as manager Jim McInally experimented with the Balmoor boss expecting a different type of challenge from the Junior side to the one posed by James McPake’s outfit.

Jim said: “Against Dundee we did not have a lot of the ball and we had to work on our shape on those situations. That will happen to us in some league games this season so it was a worthwhile exercise. Some elements of what we tried worked and we also identified areas that we need to sit down and go through with the players.”

“In this game it is likely that we will have more of the ball than we did on Tuesday therefore we need to do our work differently. It is our last chance to learn something from a game environment before the serious stuff starts.”

Gary Mackenzie and Derek Lyle are expected to get game time as they look to reach full-fitness after injuries however recent signing Kyle Bailey is likely to be missing as he has a minor foot injury.
