Former Ross County and Keith striker to trial at Blue Toon

Striker Gregor MacDonald who spent over a decade in the Youth Programme at Ross County is to undertake a trial period at Peterhead. The 19 year old gained experience last season in the Highland League with Keith and he will join up with the rest of manager Jim McInally’s squad when training resumes following his release from the Dingwall club.

Jim said: “We have good contacts at Ross County and in the Highland League so we have a good idea of what Gregor can bring. It suits us better that he has been released by County as opposed to being a signed player in the Highland League, as we would not have to pay a transfer fee for his services if we want to take things forward.”

“He is keen to remain at a senior club and we are looking forward to giving him the chance to do that.”

Broughty Athletic attacker Derryn Kesson has also been offered a trial opportunity and there will be other players coming in with Jim adding: “Shortly after Aberdeen announced who would be leaving Pittodrie I made contact with a scout who knows those that stay locally. They were all offered the chance to come into Peterhead for pre-season and try to win a deal.”

“One of them has already agreed to do so and I am looking forward to seeing him play in the five games we have arranged ahead of the season kicking-off.”
