Skipper Scott keeping spirits up

Apr 27, 2020

The Peterhead squad may no longer be meeting up for training and games however skipper Scott Brown is making sure that none of them have been left feeling blue. The Balmoor club have furloughed their management and playing staff and Brown like the rest of the Jim McInally’s men is training on his own.

However, the former St Johnstone midfielder is making sure spirits remain high as he explained: “It is uncertain times and it is strange not to have football. You have to keep yourself going as much as possible and training on your own is strange as opposed to training in a big group.”

“We simply have to get through this and it is my responsibility to make sure that everyone is okay. I am making sure that the boys are chatting away on WhatsApp and things like that. We have some big and noisy characters in the squad on and off the pitch and it is good to hear from them as it brings a bit of normality.”

“We are still under contract for a few weeks and getting Government support for wages so short-term money is not too big an issue however there is more than that to remaining positive.”

“The manager and I chat frequently as well and he is up to date with how everyone is doing. It is an unusual time but we have to keep the social side of things that happens away from training and games going.”
