Former Rangers midfielder Paul Emslie has signed for Peterhead on a one-year deal, and will go straight into the side to face Montrose tomorrow.
The 22 year-old spent the latter part of last season on loan at Balmoor, impressing to the extent that he was even handed the captain’s armband in the absence of Callum Macdonald and Bobby Mann. Aberdeen-born Emslie had been hoping to continue his full-time career and had an unsuccessful trial over the summer with Shrewsbury Town before agreeing to put pen to paper with the Blue Toon.
Emslie, who had spent a previous loan spell with Clyde, told the club website of his delight at joining back up with his Peterhead team-mates. He said "I’m delighted to be back. I know the team well, they’re a great bunch of lads and I know what they’re capable of."
"It’s great to get the deal completed today so that I’m available for the cup game against Montrose. Tomorrow is a really important game for us. It’s important that we get off to a winning start."
"Inconsistency let us down last season and we need to get off to a good start in the league campaign to be challenging at the top of the table which is definitely where we want to be." |
